Excursion To The Formerly Divided Village of Mödlenreuth

August 13, 1998

Our excursion today brought us to the former East-West German border to a little village called Mödlenreuth which has left part of the wall standing as a museum. This village was divided in half by the inner-German wall, one very similar to that in Berlin. Because of this, Mödlenreuth was called "Little Berlin." Jerod and his partner Markus check out the wall and ask the guide a quetion.
Students learned why the wall was built by the East Germans, why the border ran through the middle of the village and about the only successful escape attempt which happened there. After our excursion, Heidi and her partner, Suzi and other GAPPIES went out for pizza together in Gefrees.
