The Scholarship

The AIEJ scholarship covers a return flight from the nearest international airport from your home university to the Hiroshima International airport, and a monthly living allowance.

The scholarship will be given in the form of a flight ticket. You will be contacted by a travel agency who will give you the details on where to pick up this ticket. They will not reimburse you in case you already bought your own flight ticket. It is also important to contact the Office of International Exchange and let them know where the closest international airport is. This is especially important if the international airport is not in a well known city. You can end up flying from a farther airport and not from the one nearest to your home institution

The amount of the monthly allowance is \80,000. This amount is paid at the end of the month usually around the 27th. Also you will get a one-time set up allowance of \50.000 paid about one week after arrival. So it is a good idea to bring some money with you to cover your daily expenses for at least one week.

You can either receive the scholarship as cash or you can have it automatically transferred to your Hiroshima Bank account. The Office of International Exchange can help you set up a bank account. I find it more convenient to have our scholarship transferred to a bank account rather than to receive it in cash. You can also ask your rent to be automatically deducted from your scholarship.

At the completion of the program you are required to submit a paper approximately three pages long (A4). Two pages containing the a description of the content and the results of what you studied and one page about Hiroshima University of Economics's student exchange program and Japan.
