To Beach Or Not To Beach

The sun sets cold out in the west,
Seen from the beach I love the best.
Summers gone and winters here,
This beach is bare this time of year.

The sand beneath my feet so cold,
Spreads north and south a strip of gold.
The summer waves that brought delight,
Seem cruel and cold in winters light.

I remember though the summer sun,
A thousand people having fun.
So hot the sand was in those days,
When walking through that human maze.

A turquoise sea that brought relief,
From stinging bite of summers heat.
Where children laughed and splashed and played,
How I miss those summer days.

The things that make a strong man sigh,
Bikini's that are cut so high.
Surfers too will meet their match,
If that perfect wave they catch.

The bronze life guard so tall and true,
You know he stands there just for you.
Beneath those gentle waves there hides,
The danger of that strong rip tide.

Out to sea it sweeps so fast,
Out to the ocean wild and vast.
You can not fight that current strong,
Your strength will fail before too long.
With vigilance he stands and waits,
So no one here will have that fate.

Scarborough, Trigg and Cottesloe,
Are venues for this summer show.
City Beach among the best,
Not far from Perth here in the west.
