So, you're a libertarian, and you believe in the good naturedness of man?
Well, I've got a chance for you to prove to the rest of the world that we are
good hearted. Kids today need something to do, places to go without causing
trouble. Door County(where I live) is a big tourist trap, especially the northern
part of the county. The local law enforcement has yet set up another regulation
violating ones right to travel. That is skateboarding. There is a group of skaters
led by a 12 year old named Josiah (Si) Lent. He's a cool kid. They call themselves
the Door County Skate Co-op... They have set up a fund called Save the Skaters...
The purpose of this fund is to help build a skate park, where skateboarders,
in-line skaters, and others can have fun, without harrassing the tourists
(and thus being a "hindrance" on the local economy)... This is what being a
libertarian is all about. I admire this kid for doing what he's doing. He's
only 12, and yet he's attended town meetings, and tried to get the town board
to help him, but they don't seem to understand. Our band(corduroy joy) performed
at a concert with two other bands... Ballistic Biscuit(a local band), and Pat
MacDonald... We raised about $1500.00, but that is still far short from what
they needed. The local YMCA is volunteering land space for the park(as far
as I know... I know they are interested in helping out at least). Now, it's
your turn to help the youth of America. These kids are trying to do a
productive thing, and respecting others at the same time. We need to encourage
kids to do this kind of thing... He's not relying on the government, and he's
learned that he can't let the town board help him. He's learned an important
lesson. The government serves it's own self-interests, and cares not about
the rights of the people. He's doing it himself. Let's help him, shall we?
See, State Socialists are all too eager to prove that man isn't generous enough.
As I mentioned in one of my essays, they all think that no-one would give to
help other people. Every Libertarian I know, is good hearted, though...
OK, there's one with a rotten attitude(and it's no-one on the net, so if you're
one of my friends reading this, don't think it's any of you... Actually, it's
the guy that introduced me to Libertarianism). Anyways, we've got to show
that a Libertarian society is feasible, and that there will be enough charity to
help causes. Especially our youth. If we are concerned, we have to show it...
And based on our libertarian principles, not force government to show it for us,
but to give to those who need it. Not saying all of us have to give.
If you don't think it's a decent cause, then don't... But if you believe it's
important to help our kids stay out of trouble, and do something productive,
while staying fit, help support these people. Even if it's only a check for a
couple bucks, PLEASE help them. Let's show those State Socialist Bastards that
we've got what it takes to provide our vision. We've gotten so involved in the
politics, that we've forgotten it starts out with our own home, our own world...
We've got to do it ourselves... Let's not be slackers anymore, and show the world
we can provide a caring society, better than the great society that the government
has given us... Thanks for your time... Oh, here's the address you can send your
check to. At the very least, please take some time to send a note of encouragement.

Thanks for your time. Oh yeah, and while you send it, in your note, please mention
that you're doing this for libertarian causes and that you got it off my web page.
He'll be glad to know that he got some exposure on the net. This would be good
advertisement for our cause, so mention your Libertarian belief.
BTW, check out the poster for the concert here...
