Myself

mirka2.jpg (15361 bytes)

Hello! My name is Mirka and I am 21 years old. I have completed my secondary education at San Anton School, Malta. I have one brother whose nickname is Frontier.

Music:  I have studied music since I was very young, and I have played the piano, the flute and the clarinet, the recorder, and [tried to play] the trumpet... I played the clarinet with various Maltese band clubs, and in 1995 I even played in the Maltese community in Toronto, Canada.  My favourite instrument though... is the voice.  I am a member of the Malta Opera Company and I took part in two recently staged operas, Cavalleria Rusticana & I Pagliacci, at the Manoel Theatre in Valletta.

Pets:  I have four pets: a dog, a bird and two tortoises.

My dog is a pekingese and his name is Sacha Jan. The cockatiel bird is called GoGo.

Years ago I had a tortoise called Antigone, which unfortunately disappeared, but before leaving, she left us her two little offsprings which are called Zazza' and Gagga'. Antigone was my favourite pet until Spiru (Sacha) lodged in, but I still miss her because she was old and wise.

Interests & Hobbies:  I love languages because of their unforgettable sound.  I have learnt some Greek with which I communicated well in Greece, and I was awarded the Advanced Level certificate in Russian by the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Valletta.  I have been an active member at the centre since 1997, and now I decided to sit for both the ordinary and advanced Matriculation Certificate in the language.

My hobbies and my studies keep me indoors most of the time. I am fascinated by Russian literature, especially by the spirituality of Russian literature, the mystery of which has inspired me in writing a poem last April).

Please sign my guestbook!

I am always impressed when I read your guestbook comments. Thank you for your encouragement.  It is always pleasing to know you are there, and much more when I know that you like my page.  Do not stop writing!

    THINK POSITIVE

Inspiration from one of America’s greatest motivators

    by Norman Vincent Peale

If you want to get somewhere, you have to know where you want to go and how to get there.

Then never, never, never give up.

The secret of life isn’t in what happens to you, but what you do with what happens to you.

Help other people to cope with their problems and your own will be easier to cope with.

Never use the word IMPOSSIBLE seriously again,

Toss it into the verbal waste bucket.

Self-trust is the first secret of success.

So believe in and trust yourself.

Stand up to your obstacles and do something about them.

You will notice that they haven’t half the strength you think they have.

Joy increases as you give it, and diminishes as you try to keep it for yourself.

In giving it you will accumulate a deposit of joy

Greater than you ever believed possible.

How you think about a problem is more important than the problem itself.

    So always think POSITIVELY

Go at life with abandon: give it all you’ve got,

And life will give all it has to you.

    Aren't they cute?? Err...
