With so much turmoil in the world at this time, it would seem there is very little an individual or small group can do to help relieve the tension. However, if we accept the idea that what happens in the world affects us all, then the converse may also be true--the individual can affect the world. In any case, we have only ourselves to experiment upon, and if we tried to learn more about ourselves and our potentials, what would result? So, some years ago one small group of people embarked on a journey of self-discovery. At first we followed the lessons in Know Yourself, by Patricia Hayes. Later, through channeling, we began to receive guidance from teachers and guides on "the other side." These guides suggested the group collect and share our material, and that is what we have done.
We hope this material will encourage others to share in the vision of the New Age, where we can help each other to bring about a future where fear and aggression are replaced by a spirit of love and cooperation between all people. --F.H.
Xerxes: "Your medical scientists analyze cells and membranes--hoping to find out how the human body works, and it is as if they were attempting to explain the Mona Lisa by analyzing the paints and pigments!
"What you need to know, to begin to understand the species man, or understand the art of Da Vinci, is to know something of the artists's intentions. Truly man is a work of art--created by a master artist with an intention or idea of what He wished to accomplish by that creation. Was it not to share His creative vision with you? So that you may begin to have the joy of sharing in your own further creation? So man is therefore, by natural and divine intent, creative.
"To create anything, first must come the idea--the visualization. Therefore, to train your creative faculties, you ought to develop your ability to visualize. You are told, and intellectually you can accept the idea that, thoughts are things. What you can envision, you can create.
"That is why, in your spiritual evolution, you must dwell on what you wish humanity to become, rather than on what you are. For what you are is, to a large extent, the result of your failure to think and act creatively, constructively. The seeming chaos you see around you reflects the confusion of thought processes.
"Humanity is at the crossroads. Either you create a better world, or confusion and despair will prevail, and the end will come to your civilization as it has come to others. When the cycle of creativity is exhausted, the cycle of destruction follows. Why struggle, then, you say? Is this not the natural process? In the overall picture, yes, it is. But for the individual there are choices to be made, every day. You can choose, for instance, to dwell on your miseries, physical or mental. Remember, thoughts are things, so inevitably such negative attitudes manifest in the body and are reinforced by every thought of worry, anxiety, and so on. The sins of envy, jealously, and such are not sins against God, but against yourselves!
"When Paul said, "Whatever is true, good, and beautiful, think on these," he wasn't exhorting you to be Pollyanna, but giving sound psychological advice. You cannot help seeing the state of the world and of your own bodies as being far from perfect. But you can help dwelling on the negative aspects--wallowing in depression over the state of the world, giving morbid attention to your aches and pains.
"To pray for those in troubled areas of the world is good, but it is not enough. The physical action of sending relief to famine-stricken people, donating to charity, is good, but it is still not enough. Until you know how to mobilize your own inner resources, to bring about your own healing, how do you expect to have resources, the light, to share with others? You cannot give what you do not have.
"There is no room for complacency. There are those on the higher planes who are eager to work with anyone demonstrating both the sincere desire to further their own soul growth, and to share their light with others. The rewards are great for those who attempt to follow the guidance of their Higher Selves.
Gaia: "Your group has its own dynamics, and it will, in the future, be used for particular consciousness-raising and energy-exploration exercises. And because of the group's willingness to spend considerable time sitting together and to explore ideas, exercises, and activities, that to some would seem to have no functional value, this group has been unique.
"This group, though small, has in particular, explored the depth of the unconsciousness, individually, and the ego-structure. In this way the group is less subject to unconscious or out-of-group manipulation.
"There will now be a series of energy activities which could be quite demanding and would seem unfocused. But they could be of great importance in later energy-raising activities for other groups. It is always difficult to get humans to attempt activities which seemingly have no boundaries, and as you know consciousness has no boundaries. There is no end to the directions in which the human mind can explore itself.
"But it takes a tremendous amount of initial, individual, exploration before a person is confident in their own understanding of their personality--their own definitions of mind. However this is necessary before connections can begin to be made with the consciousness of all men through the higher selves. Higher consciousness is uncharted, undefined--even for the higher selves there is no end to the "fields" of exploration and of understanding. But the closest mappings that can be undertaken by humans are those in which the individual understands and manipulates his immediate environment. These exercises will allow both the higher selves, and the individuals within the group who allow themselves to be used by their higher selves, to explore the quantum dynamics of creation.
"The exercises in the future will take considerable physical stamina. Good health is part of the pattern we wish for you. Creation of body and mind continue throughout life, and the fact of death is only that--a fact of change. But good health, strength in body, mental alertness, are all achievable right up until the moment of death. This, too, must be a mental conditioning. The human race must begin to consider life to be a totality without beginning, or ending in a decline with physical or mental instability or poor health. Therefore it is important, as you grow older, to continue your positive thoughts about your body, about your mental abilities, to initiate over and over again, new projects and new activities. Break out of mass group thought patterns which expect all activities to dwindle and eventually disappear with age.
"Soon we will begin a new set of exercises. There will also be certain new teachers and the rhythms may be perhaps a bit different. The time is short, and we are aware of the shortness of time, but there cannot be any skipping of stages, nor can any one group of people do everything. The biggest danger is that certain groups believe they have the keys and this is not so. The keys lie scattered, throughout a number of groups, throughout the world. When those keys are put together a mass jump in consciousness will occur.
Question: When you say, "Time is short," can you elaborate?
Gaia: "The economic conditions at the present time make it a conductive one to cause changes in major organizations. There is a possibility that thinkers, and students of philosophical endeavor may be made part of the larger institutions. It is as though behind each realistic, practical problem-solver, there must be innumerable thinkers of the impractical sort directing energy and ideas through that one individual. No one individual has ever changed history. Behind each individual there are innumerable thinkers who desire change. Therefore a small group can achieve a great deal through unified thought and exercises "if" the goals are clear--if what is wished for is new constructive solutions to those many problems.
"The answers you find within yourselves are answers that can be applied in an ever-widening scale like ripples in a pond. If you solve a problem within your own sphere, if you solve a problem within the sphere of the group, those same answers can be applied elsewhere.
"This is not a new thought for you, but we find that each individual resists the steps necessary to create new concepts of greater realities. Satisfactory answers to the questions you ask yourself are difficult. Yet as you perceive new ways of regarding realities, more people perceive greater realities, and more realities come into existence.
"As a flower develops from a seed in the ground and has not yet burst forth through the surface of the earth to discover the sun; in just such a way you will grow and learn. What you see as good and evil is as a shadow of what is. What you perceive as evil or good cannot touch you--has no existence, no power, no strength except what you give it. You have created everything that you experience, and if you can take responsibility for what you have created you can also understand what you can create in the future. You can create a world that is diametrically opposite to the world that you know, or you can create more of what you have.
"No, you have not created the natural world, but you have affected it, now, beyond the power of it to create itself. And that is why man has come to increasingly realize his responsibility towards earth. Because he has interfered sufficiently with its self-generation he must now take responsibility.
"Individuals are struggling to come to terms with new ideas so open yourselves to those ideas. Reject no new idea--say "No" to anyone who asks you to formulate a system of thought which must be adhered to. Maintain your openness because truly there is no end to what you may learn--the knowledge now available to you.
"There is no going back--you cannot return to the indifference and lack of responsibility you once knew. You have accepted the role of co-creator--at a certain point of consciousness you have accepted creation in life. Therefore make haste, with all good will, towards the goal that lies before you. There is great joy in these perceptions, and as we make haste the more we learn, the more we see of that learning that lies before us, and this, too, is a wonderful gift of God."
