Emotion

The clouds roll in and block the sun-
Graying skies and casting shadows.
Waves of stinging raindrops pelt hard pavement
In unrelenting crashes.
Night falls and sheets thicken
Distant thunder rumbles its disdain and lack of hope.
Street lights bend and rattle in its wake.
Life lies dormant, huddled in preservation's clutch
Until the phone's ring cracks its shell
And reveals the clam's meat to nature's force.
