Girl in a white knit sweater

Your eyes keep you
Different from me.
Like velvet chains
They block invitingly.
I long to enter but know
I don't belong.
The words that escape you
Bounce off of my ears
Like gravel
But I don't flinch -
Smiling, inviting the mink
To the trap
When it springs
You shudder and are happy
And I release you
As the hands pull back.
