--LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE in Toronto - 1979

----For the first time ever, the Israel Bond leadership was held outside of New York or Israel, in 1979. Toronto was selected as the host city, and the expert New York team organized accommodations, program and meeting rooms for the hundreds of delegates expected from cross-Canada, the United States, Mexico and South America. The Sheraton Centre and the Royal York hotels were "occupied" by Bond people and telephone and Fax lines were installed, together with printing and postage machines , desks, files and other office equipment and supplies.

----George Cohon, Louise Cornblum and Lawrie Shankman volunteered to organize the social and hospitality committee.

----George prevailed on his friend Paul Godfrey, Toronto Metro Chairman, to host a Cocktail Reception at Toronto's new City Hall, and for guided tours of the premises, including a formal welcome in the amphitheatre. He also arranged for a Dress rehearsal attendance of the opera "Onegan" at O'Keefe Centre, and Drinks with the cast.

----Louise organized a ten bus cavalcade for a city tour catering to women delegates and wives of delegates who were engaged in various seminars and business meetings. Among the sites were the CN Tower and a pitstop at the Cornblum residence. Louise guided the ladies through her home, with special emphasis on the recently built "Israel Bond Hall with floor to ceiling windows, polished marble floors and accommodations for 300, with overflow on the terrace. The guests were also impressed by son Rickey's fort-like gun room, the garage, decorated with a huge chandelier and antique mirror; and Murray's Gardens with a natural water stream and chirping birds accentuating the peaceful silence in the middle of a bustling city. The fourteen bathrooms were in constant operation.

----For years after their visit, the delegates would remind Louise how they were impressed by Toronto hospitality, in general, and the graciousness of Louise, in particular.
