--HAMLISCH PLAYED OUR SONG

--Toronto, Ontario - 1985

----Marvin Hamlisch, Honourary Chairman of "New Leadership" Division of Israel Bonds - International, arranged for a fund-raising Concert Party in New York which was attended by a delegation of Canadian New Leadership. We subsequently arranged for a similar party in Toronto.

----The only cost to our office would be for refreshments and the "Pick-up" orchestra. Marvin asked for no fee and would arrange for his own flights and accommodations.

----David Kosoy was thrilled by the concept. He offered his home as the ideal location and made arrangements to instal a huge Circus Tent to accommodate 300 people on his tennis courts, protected by wood platforms. Admission was by minimum purchase of a $1000 Bond plus a nominal couvert of $50 per person. Major purchasers were assigned choice seats.

----Hamlisch's agent had informed us of the various instruments our 30 musicians were expected to play; and my associates, Dayle Rakowski and Michael Fried assembled a group that had never played together before the only rehearsal on their Saturday morning of the Concert.

----This was 'An Evening to Remember'. Over $200,000 in Bond Sales, an audience of over 300 thrilled and shouting for MORE.

----In addition to playing his own songs, Marvin sang and played other popular renditions and brought the house down when he composed an instant "HIT" with lyrics coming from segments of the audience.

--TRIBUTE TO MURRAY & LOUISE CORNBLUM

----Most Toronto Bond Dinners were held at the Royal York, the Sheraton Centre or the various synagogues throughout the city.

----Sylvia Shawn and her committee arranged for an exciting, inexpensive Bond Dinner in honour of the Cornblums at the Imperial Room of the Royal York. By special arrangements, the room was reserved exclusively for Bond people. The menu comprised a non-meat meal and entertainment by Mel Torme, who was appearing at the Imperial Room that week. An appreciative audience of 265 attended.

----Most of the guests were people that had worked with Louise and Murray for Bonds and learned to care for and respect each other. The climax of the evening was a twenty minute address by Louise Cornblum that brought the audience to its feet, cheering and in tears. Two Million dollar Notes were purchased.
