Who Am I? Glad You Asked!

Or, at least I am glad you are curious. First of all my name. Yes, my name is that long. It wasn't always that way. I was born Kevin Wayne Perizzolo (how do you pronounce that? [Italian] [English]). Peter is my confirmation name. I kept it in honor of my biological mother. Wilhelmson is the maiden name of my step-mother. I added it about 7 years ago to honor her for having raised me. I am the sixth of seven children. (Blended family.) There are five boys and two girls. There are eleven grandchildren. Two of us do not have any children, but we do love our pets as if they were our children!

I was born and raised in Denver Colorado (second generation). My biological mother was a nurse. My father was an accountant. My step-mother was a buyer. Just so you don't sit and wonder about it: My biological mother died of MS when I was about 15. I went to Sabin Elementary School (which was an experimental teaching pilot school for the country in the 1960s). I went on to John F. Kennedy Junior High School and then to Abraham Lincoln High School. I went to Colorado State University (Ft. Collins, Colorado) for a year and half and then to Metropolitan State College (Denver, Colorado) to finish a degree in Journalism/English/Public Relations/Writing.

Bored yet? I will give you an out now. Go Home.

My jobs have been many and varied: I have sold books, waited tables, barbacked, bartended, sat in front of punch presses, climbed inside water tanks to paint them, welded, swept, scrubbed, sold clothes, and delivered phone books.

I have written technical manuals for the Space Shuttle (and climbed inside one too!), and the west coast launch pad for the Shuttle (which was never finished). I have edited and produced documents for the Space Station, and various baby killing weapon systems (which I am under oath never to talk about: But I think you all remember Star Wars and President Ronnie Raygun).

I have written, edited, and produced newsletters for the financial services industry, alternative medical care industry, and special needs groups.

In the past five years I have been producing books for Library Science and Teacher Education. It might sound boring but I actually like it. It does not have the glamour of the Space Shuttle. But I have a life.

Still with me, eh? Are you into pain or what? Here, you can still leave if you wish: Go Home.

I was raised a Catholic under the Vatican II revisions. (And I believe that the Catholic Church made a big mistake, in not continuing it.) I no longer believe in any organized religion (since organized religions were created by Men to control Women and other Men). But I do believe in God (or perhaps many Gods). I am spiritual and gain insight from many sources: Bible, Buddhist scripture, Jewish writings, Muslim writings, contemporary spiritual people, Broadway musicals, comedic movies, dramas, and cartoons (plus a few I probably forgot). In other words: The Truth is Out There (pardon me X-Files), you just have to be open to it no matter where it comes from. And you have to be willing to change your mind and accept you could be wrong.

I am a Democratic Socialist. Contrary to conservative opinion, the two are not mutally exclusive of each other. I believe, support and joined the ACLU. (I also belong to Habitat for Humanity, Planned Parenthood and Amnesty International.) I totally support the United Nations (and believe the U.S. should get off its butt and pay the back dues!). I think the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights are incredible documents (and need to be revamped for modern times). I believe in seperation of church and state, gun control, a woman's right to choose, and equal rights for Gays and Lesbians (it really should not even be an issue!). To name a few! Some of my more radical political ideas are that property (land and houses) should never be passed down (personal property is okay). Banning of cars and gas powered vehicles. Legalization of recreational drugs (pot) (personally I do not partake anymore). Lower the drinking age to 18. CEOs of corporations should go to jail for violation of laws by a company. Strict environmental laws on the level of Ecotopia by Ernest Callenbach. Complete and total cradle to grave health care and support if needed (we let too many people die and live in poverty in the world). And one more (bound to piss off a lot of people), no one needs more than 50 grand a year to live on. (The rest should go to the government).

Still with me? Last chance to leave before I close: Go Home.

So, where does that leave you? Well, you have sat and read about my childhood (sort of), my education (sort of), my religious beliefs (sort of), and my politics (sort of). I say sort of only because there is no way for you to get to know and understand me in reading a short one or two page biography. I have journals dating back 22 years. They literally fill thousands of pages. Should you spend a year or two reading them, talking to me, and getting to know me . . . then you could say you knew me (sort of). Life is basically just sort of . . .
