Where?

This is the Mimir, a web site devoted to TSR's game world Planescape, an AD&D campaign setting. If you're already feeling lost, try reading my short essay "What is Planescape?" This'll give you a rough idea of what AD&D and Planescape are all about.

If you're reading this, I assume you already know at least a little about Planescape, and are perhaps wondering "So, what's a mimir then?" Well, there's a page for you too, just click on the question. There you'll find out what all those skulls are doing floating around here, and a little more about Voilà!, the mimir's narrator. So now you're an expert, eh?

Pink Mimir

Why?

Why the web site? Simply, it's the best way of publishing information fast. I write prolifically...or at least I try to...and I love to share my ideas with interested people. That's you, by the way ;-). I've had my share of articles printed in Dragon Magazine (issues 189, 200, 214, 221) but it's a very slow process. A web site is a much more satisfying medium!

Anyway, what they say about birds of a feather is true, and the site's grown from my own labour of love to a huge beast that needs many handlers. Lucky for me I've got a lot of help in the form of creative people who also love writing. And better still, they're keen on you sharing their ideas too.

Rogue Mimir

Who?

Alas, far too many people to name here. There've been well over one hundred contributors to the mimir, probably a lot more than that. You'll find their names, and in many cases their email addresses, at the top of items they've submitted. If you like what you see, please let them (or me) know! :-)

I will say a few thank-yous here, however, to some of the real diehards. Jeremiah Golden and Chris Appelhans have continually come up with the goods art-wise, and Zak Arntson's had a big hand in many projects. Scott Kelley's been editing S.I.G.I.S. for well over a year now, Jim Barrett is Mister Monstrous Compendium, Paul Nasrat's my resident Planehopper, and John Wright, Alex Roberts and Ken Lipka are a constant source of inspiration.

I've also got a Credits Page too, where there are links to many organisations, individuals and companies that've been a great help.

I already feel guilty for not carrying on, but if your name ain't here, you're not forgotten. In my book, you're all true bloods :-)

Pink Mimir

Where?

The Mimir is hosted in the USA by Geocities, the web's largest provider of free home pages. I live in England, hence the funny spelling ;-). Contributors to the site range from all over the world, mainly the USA, but also Canada, the UK and mainland Europe, Scandinavia, Australia, Israel, South and Central America and South Africa.

Rogue Mimir

When?

The Mimir began in July 1996 and mimir.net has been a registered domain since November 1997. The site became a Featured Homepage of Geocities in late 1996.

I try and do a major update to the site at least once per week, and often more regularly than that. But then sometimes not, especially when I get busy.

Pink Mimir

And?

The Mimir looks best if you've got the Visitation font installed. You can download that from here, in Macintosh (stuffed, 32K) or PC (zipped, 31K) formats. It's a font very like the one TSR uses in its Planescape books, but not the exact one; that's called Exocet Heavy. You can find that on Edward Pokorski's Webpage, in the Downloads section.

This site's won several awards, the most prestigious of which was runner up in Geocities "Best Games Page" competition in February 1997. You can find out more about this and other accolades on the Awards Page.

Want to link to Mimir.Net? I've got a bundle of graphics you can use to do it with, too, on my Banners Page. Please feel free and help yourself to 'em.

So?

What are you waiting for? Check out the "What's Where?" page for a complete list of all this Mimir's chant, or the "What's New?" page to learn what's been added recently. If you've got any comments, please feel free to leave them in the Mimir Guestbook. If you've got questions, you might like to browse the Planescape FAQ pages, or you can email me by clicking on the icon below, and I'll try and answer them as soon as I can...

Cheers! Jon
