WEAVER'S NEEDLE

In this photo can be seen a shaft of rock jutting out from the surrounding Superstition Mountains. This shaft is now called "Weaver's Needle," named after the famous Arizona mountain man, Pauline Weaver. It is believed that Jacob Waltz, a German, found a large gold mine near Weaver's Needle, and from this story came the legend of the "Lost Dutchman's Goldmine." Many people (some of whom are prominent politicians) in Arizona believe in the legend, and there are many who have tried to find the "Lost Dutchman's Goldmine." All I can say is: Good luck! (Might be better to try the Pinal Mountains, as Jacob Waltz took his gold most often to Florence, which is nearer to the Pinals than it is to the Superstitions.)
