SLEEPING BEAUTY MOUNTAIN

If you look carefully at the mountain in this photo you can imagine that it looks like a woman lying down with her head to the right. It does indeed look like a "Sleeping Beauty." At the turn of the century it was the location of Phineas Clanton's (brother of the Tombstone Clanton gang) goat ranch. A short time later it became the property of mining interests in the Miami region. It is now owned by Broken Hill Properties Mining Company and is the site of an important copper mine. Gorgeous blue turquoise is also mined at this site.
