Lunch with Dad
A.J. and I went downtown and visited my dad's office today. Dad treated us to a very nice lunch at a Japanese restaurant nearby called Kampai. I feasted on four types of sushi -- yellowtail (hamachi), marbled tuna (toro), salmon (sake) and sea urchin (uni) -- as well as barbequed eel over rice (unadon), chicken grilled on skewers with carrots and green peppers (a variant of yakitori) and breaded, deep-fried shrimp and vegetables (tempura). The meal also came with tea, salads with sesame dressing and bowls of miso soup. A.J. ate some tempura and a piece of chicken, but mostly he ate Dad's buckwheat noodles (zarusoba)! He REALLY liked the noodles; I think he ate more than half of Dad's meal! (Dad also had some of the sushi, tempura and eel, so he didn't starve.) The food was great, but it was also wonderful just to spend time with my dad. I think Dad had a good time, too; he suggested we try to get together for lunch at least once a month. Sounds good to me!
