Sinkyone
The Sinkyone people lived in Northern California, roughly
divided in two tribes the Lholhankok or Bull Creek Sinkyone
in southern Humboldt county, in present day in Humboldt
Redwoods State Park, and south of them, the Shelter Cove
Sinkyone also in northern Mendocino county. Their language
was closest to that of the Wailaki. Massacred by colonizers
in the 1850s, diminished from 2,000 to less than 100 around
1920, and their language died. Our placenames are from the
Lholhankok variety.

Sinkyone
Sinkyone herria bi taldetan zegoen banatua: Lholhankok
edo Bull Creek Sinkyone iparraldean, Humboldt konterrian,
egungo Humboldt Redwoods natur parkearen lurretan, eta
handik hegoalderago Shelter Cove Sinkyone jendea, Mendocino
konterrian barneratuz. Wailaki mintzairatik oso gertu zegoen
hizkuntza hau. Kolonizatzaileek ia denak hil zituzten
1850aren inguruan, eta 100 ere ez ziren geratzen 1920
inguruan. Haiekin galdu zen hizkuntza, jakina. Gure toki
izenak Lholhankok barietatekoak dira.
