The main and real reason for this tragedy in Colorado - and all tragedies on
planet earth, with all their horrible consequences - is SIN.
The reason humans sin
is because they are all sinners. We were born with a sinful nature and all of us are sinners
by choice and by practice. This has been so ever since Adam sinned against
God in the Garden of Eden.
What did Adam do when he sinned against God in
Eden? He just chose to live independently of God, in a self-willed way of life. This is all
sin regardless of how it expresses itself in sins.
This is the main reason humans
do what they do. It is our nature. Birds, fish, dogs, cats, animals of all kind do what they
do because it is their nature. So does man.
There wasn’t any murder, stealing,
adultery, sodomy, crime, war, lying or death before Adam sinned against God in Eden.
This is true regarding all other sins.
Ultimately all sorrow, suffering, heartache,
pain and woe is a result of sin. No one suffers for sin alone. Just think how many suffer
unknown agony in families because of the sin of husbands, wives, children and relatives.
Think how many hundreds of millions of people suffered torture, starvation and even
death because of the sins of men like Hitler, Stalin, Lenin and many olthers down through
history - and even in our day. If it were not for sin, we would not need armies, ploicemen,
jails, hospitals, graveyards, etc. Just think how many trillions of dollars it would save
taxpayers and what could be done for good with all that money!
It is sad
to say, but there are a myriad of people who even deny the fact of sin, give it another
name, glamorize it, legalize it, try to apply this world’s remedies to it, enjoy the temporary
pleasure in it, etc. God’s Word tells us there is temporary pleasure in sin, but what brings
temporary sensual pleasure also brings suffering, sorrow, heartache, disease - such as
venerial disease, AIDS, etc. - and ultimately death.
History reveals that any
society or nation that has kicked God out of its life has gone down under the judgment of
God. America will be no exception.
Those dear brave and precious people who
signed the Declaration of Independence - which cost them their wealth, properties,
families and lives - gave us six Christian beliefs in that great document.
1. In God as
Creator.
2. God created humans.
3. In the Providence of God.
4.
God-established governments.
5. God created absolute moral laws.
6. In a
judgment day of and by God.
The first amendment to our
Constitution states that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of
religion or prohibiting its free exercise. The liberals, humanist organizations and judges
have used the separation of church and state, which is a myth that has almost made this
amendment worthless. Consider,
1. In 1961, the United States Supreme Court
recognized humanism, which is anti-God, as a religion.
2. It banned devotional class
prayer from public schools in 1962.
3. It banned devotional Bible reading from public
schools in 1980.
It banned the teaching of biblical creationism in public schools in
1987, yet the humanists are permitted to propigate their ungodly beliefs - such as there are
no absolute truths or moral standards of right and wrong to be governed by, and no God
to answer to in judgment - while we taxpayers pay them to do it. How stupid can we
be? Is there any wonder why we have such an ungodly society today when the youth
of this nation are being brain wahsed in our public schools?
The hiring of more
policemen, using metal detectors, etc., are not the answer. it is like trying to mop up
spilled water while the faucet is still running, or putting on Band Aids without cleaning up
the blood stream.
We must get the government out of public education and hold
the parents responsible for the education and training of the children as God states in His
Holy Word. We also must have proper laws enforced to punish those who break the
laws.
Thank God, there is a true remedy for sin. God gave His own sinless Son,
the Lord Jesus Christ, to shed His precious blood to pay the full penalty for all sinners’
sins and to meet the demand of God’ s holy broken law, so He could forgive sinners for
their sin. He raised Him from the dead to prove this. A dead Christ cannot save anyone
from sin. Each individual sinner must appropriate what God had done by grace through
repentence toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ’s shed blood, burial and
resurrection, or it will avail the sinner nothing.
My prayer is that through this and
other tragedies on planet earth God can get our attention to whre we will realize that our
problem is spiritual and only a spiritual solution will solve it, regardless of all the scientific
and technological progress we have made.
