Faerie Poetry
This is a small sampling of different poetry I have recieved from both my
friends and other fae sites.
I recieved this from my friend, Kethryn.
Deep as Night, Sweet as Dream,
Things are never what they seem,
Few will ever find the way,
Through the Kingdom of the Fae,
Past the Riddles, Past the Door,
See things never seen before,
Wide as Ocean, Light as Foam,
I call the fae to bring me home.
~Caillean Greywolf & Stephanie Massicks
This poem was sent to me via my friend Daniella. It doesn't have anything to do with fae, but I do love it all the same.
She walks in beauty, like the night
of cloudless climes an starry skies;
and all that's best of dark and bright
meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
which heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade more, one ray less,
had half impaired the nameless grace
which waves in every raven tress,
or softly lightens o'er her face;
where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.
And on that cheek, and o'er that brow
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
the smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent.
~Lord Byron
I found this poem online. Press here to visit.
Softly, I slip into Dreamland
Stone Circle surrounded by Mother Oak
Fields of Purple heather
Beneath a sky of Azure Blue
A Crystalline Cottage
An Emerald Vision of You
Goddess of Dreams
We lie together in a Magickal Mist
Encircled by Fae
Who look the other way
While we perform
The Great Rite
~Wolf Dancer
I also found this online, but I forgot to include the url. I will find it again and put it here. As for now, here is the poem.
Fairy tales for those who believe,
Are not a tale at all.
They're whispered to us in our dreams,
By fairies one and all.
So drift with me to slumber land;
So see a wondrous sight,
Just place your hand in the fairy's hand;
And fly into the night.
~Carla Vredeling
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
~Langston Hughes
The woods are full of faeries!
The trees are all alive;
The river overflows with them,
See how they dip and dive!
What funny little fellows!
What dainty little dears!
They dance and leap, and prance and peep,
And utter fairy cheers!
I'd like to tame a fairy,
To keep it on a shelf,
And dress its little self.
I'd teach it pretty manners,
It always should say "please",
And then you know I'd make it sew,
And curtsey with its knees!
~Unknown
This is from "The Gypsies Metamorphosed"
The fairy beam upon you,
The stars to glister on you,
A moon of light
In the noon of night,
Till the firedrake hath o'er-gone you.
The wheel of fortue guide you,
The boy with the bow beside you
Run aye in the way
Till the bird of day
And the luckier lote betide you.
~Ben Johnson
Those who weareth of the magic elf shoes, shall never again have the blues.
You will dance, play, & skip to the moon.
Laughter, joy, and happiness will be with you soon.
Don't be afraid to let your elfness out.
Playing hide and seek in the forest, kicking your heels and giggling is what it's all about.
So pick up some fairy dust, lift up some spirits, and sing out loud so all the wood nymphs can hear it.
And when you've played with elf shoes enough my brother, pass on the elf tradition and give them to another.
~Sabrina Story
This is an untitled poem I found.
A virtuous well, about whose flowery banks
The nimble footed fairies dance their rounds,
By the pale moonshine; dipping oftentimes
Their stolen children, so to make them free
From dying flesh and dull mortality
~Fletcher
Could it be the magic of Faerie dust?
The magic that draws my heart to yours,
The magic that makes me want you,
Need you,
Love you.
The magic song in your voice,
The magic gleam in your eyes,
The magic healing of your gentle smile.
Could it be the magic of faerie dust?
Or could it be the magic of love?
~Sean Straney
How far and wide the fairies fly
On bright and golden wing
But when they settle down to sleep
A gentle song they sing
Sweet Queen of Night
Soft silver stars
We're so glad you are so near
We seek our beds
We rest our heads
Without a moment's fear
On thistledown
In hidden nooks
We watch the waning light
The joys of sleep
Upon us creep
We wish you all good night
~Steven Kroll
All the names I know from nurse:
Gardener's garters, Shepherd's purse,
Bachelor's buttons, Lady's smock,
And the Lady Hollyhock.
Fairy places, fairy things,
Fairy woods where the wild bee wings,
Tiny trees for tiny dames--
These must all be fairy names!
Tiny woods below whose boughs
Shady fairies weave a house;
Tiny tree-tops, rose or thyme,
Where the braver fairies climb!
Fair are grown-up people's trees,
But the fairest woods are these;
Where, if I were not so tall,
I should live for good and all.
~Robert Louis Stevenson
I recieved this untitled poem directly from its author
I spied a single reed dancing in a wind that didn't blow
and with that reed a dancing was a faery don'tcha know~
I dared not wake my sleeping prince that faery for to see,
for that faery and that single reed were dancing just for me.~Robin Minick
