Ho Chi Minh is located on the banks of the Saigon river, a tributary
to the Dong Mai. Ho Chi Minh
City is the largest city in Viet Nam and has a population of three million
and two hundred thousand ,
estimated. Ho Chi Minh City is the largest port in Viet Nam. It is also the
greatest commercial and
industrial center of Viet Nam. It has one air port and is one of the focus
centers of the Viet Nam?s
highways and rail system. It is also the hub of all of the Mekong delta?s
waterways and canals. Ho
Chi Minh City was only a small village when it was concurred by the French.
They turn the village in
to a modern and bustling city. In 1975 Saigon surrendered to Hanoi and the
land of Viet Nam was
re-united. When Saigon surrendered the North Vietnamese government removed
it's status as a
capital and renamed the city to commemorate the late North Viet Nam president
Ho Chi Minh. The
cultural attractions of the city include the Ho Chi Minh University and a
