In Wicca and the Craft, it is traditional to have a magical name that is used in ritual. Reasons for this name vary, but it is generally agreed that part of the reason is that it helps you to forget who you are in the mundane world and focus on the ritual. It also helps you to find exactly who you are, the type of person you are.
Some magical names are often used, some less so. Try calling out "Raven" or "Shadow" at a magical gathering --I'd bet that more than one head turns. However, that does not mean that you can't use them! Pick the name(s) that seem right to you! I chose my magical name because it fits my personality wonderfully. I operate this webpage by the name Jasper because that fits who I am, too.
If you can't decide on a name right away, no problem. Make sure you've found the name that's right for you before you get anything engraved, though! It may be years before you find your name. That's okay! Just use your real name, or a name you like--I know a woman who uses the name "Katrina" in ritual because she hasn't found anything that suits her better. I can't stress enough, it's your name! Pick it for you!
I wish you good luck, and point you towards some places that have suggestions for names.
That's all for now.
