Inner Peace

In our lives all that we see,
Is pain and sorrow, misery.
We never stop to see the rose,
We never wait to see what grows.
We're always looking forward when,
We should be looking back again.

Cast a brief glimpse upon the day,
That has just passed so we can say -
"I know now why that came to be,
The lesson has been learned; I see
How that can change the way I think."
But no, into our pain we shrink.

Knowing nothing; learning less,
Our lives are filled with emptiness.
A bleak acceptence of our fate,
But in our hearts is fear and hate.
We wait for some sign from above,
Missing all our hope for love.

We all believe in destiny,
But not how it was meant to be.
We are not helpless or without
Freedom of choice; we are in doubt
Though of what we each do want,
Happiness our minds does taunt.

Our dreams and wishes pass us by,
We only see our fears and cry;
For that which we can never gain,
It seems as if we love our pain.
Do we truly want to be freed?
Or is the quest all that we need.

Does life hold something more for us?
Is there some other impetus?
Confusion tears our souls apart,
While pain and fear do rend the heart.
Fatalism grips the mind,
An ending is all that we find.

Living always with this horror,
Only death awaits us; more or,
Less we feel; and less we know,
Our ignorance we plainly show
To all who want to see us fall,
But in the end death claims us all.

Enemies can turn to friends; so
A friend can now become a foe.
We try to hold things to a name,
But only change remains the same.
All that we love will disappear,
But something new shall become clear.

A new beginning that will free
What was hidden; and then we'll see
The truth in all its glory great,
What we always knew; the inate
Knowledge within each our souls,
But what our pain and fear controls.

Loosing these entanglements,
Freeing what's within; the intense
Passion deep inside us all,
That drives us forward; nature's call
To see the truth that shines above,
The world itself is made of love.
