Welcome again to another edition of your state newsletter, I hope you’ll find something in this edition to entertain and inform you as you sit by the warmth of your fire or heater. This issue is dedicated to reviews, and we have a couple of book reviews and event reviews to share with you.

The kurrawongs make a ritual out of their dusk settling into trees, with loud song calls, squabbling for branch space, and general chit chat before sun down. Shouldn’t be too long until the cuckoo starts his journey home.

Winter has been kind to us here in NSW, with mild days, cold nights, and cool breezes. It wont be long before the August winds hit Sydney freshening the place up a fair bit! I can already feel the days getting longer, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets to hail each morning and evening on my way to and from work.

The jasmine has begun to bloom in the backyard, which means Spring is not too far away. It won’t be long until the new growth appears on the wysteria vine, and the leaves return to the apricot tree, which means the flying foxes will be back soon in our tree. There are so many pointers to the turning of the wheel all around my community, it’s wonderful to see the seasons grow, die and change.

The next newsletter will have a summary of the 1999 member survey, so there’s still plenty of time to get your surveys in. If you didn’t get a survey, let me know and I’ll post one out to you.

What’s happening on your balcony, in your backyard, or local park this season?

Blessed Be,
Adrianne Harris, NSW Co-ordinator
