Ghusl or full bathing is required in the following instances, before one can resume prayer: 1. After menstruation 2. After having intercourse 3. After emmission of sexual fluids (e.g. after wet dreams) 4. After post-partum bleeding (maximum 40 days) How to perform Ghusl? The following information is adapted from the book What Islam is All About by Yahiya Emerick. 1. Begin with clean water in either a shower of bathtub (but donīt sit in the water) 2. Make the intention to make ghusl (e.g. "Nuwaitul Ghusl) 3. Wash hands three times, beginning with the right hand. 4. Wash the private parts (with left hand) 5. Do as when making wudu, starting with the washing of the hands and excluding the washing of the feet. 6. Pour water over the body three times (e.g. by going under the shower three times), making sure the whole body has been wet, leaving nothing dry. Water must reach the root of the beard and/or hair. 7.
