LIVE TREE
Today a gift so sweet was given to me,
In a pot small a little live Christmas tree,
The refreshing smell of great forest pine
Is wafting through this home of mine.

Then in the spring, if treated with loving care,
I will plant it in the garden, by the hedge there,
So memories of this Christmas will not die,
But in the gentle beauty of lovely branches lie.

I’ll call it my ‘Karen Tree’ hoping it will grow
Tall and strong as into the garden it will go,
So that in many Christmases that are to come,
Happy memories come flooding back one by one.

Thank you friend for the gift of a sweet living tree,
Especially an evergreen that reminds us of eternity,
The birth of the Saviour who gave us live everlasting,
So true hope and joy to all of mankind does bring.
