More poems about Gifts of the Spirit

        I HEARD MY NAME
I heard my name whispered, ‘Don’t go astray,
Stay firmly on the straight and narrow way’
It was like the sound of the wind in the trees,
The murmur of grass in the evening breeze.

It was a quiet voice, a voice full of love.
A gentle force leading me to heaven above,
A loving Father helping me find my way home,
So in a world of sin’s darkness I will not roam.

I saw stars shining in the dark sky at night,
They seemed to tell me to be a guiding light,
Our moon, we miss her when she’s not there,
Telling me I’m needed to shine bright and fair.

Every day I gaze at the beauty that is found
In this wonderful world, hear every sound
From magnificent man made music to a bird,
Or the sound of crashing seas on rocks heard.

I can imagine His face in the rising of the sun,
And thank Him that a new day has now begun,
Feel His great love in the warm rays that flow
From the heavens when the sun’s all aglow.

Help me Father be worthy of the gifts that are mine,
Ever grateful for Jesus, Thy Son pure and divine,
I pray that I may always hear that whispering voice,
So able to make, through my life, the wiser choice.
