THREE SCORE YEARS AND TEN
I was told as a child that three score years and ten
Was the life span allotted to all earthly men,
I thought that was old and quite long enough
To do everything needed, all the important stuff.
But now at three score years and nine I disagree,
I want a lot more time for life to be allotted to me.
I feel like the energizer bunny and can keep going,
Id hate to think that soon my life will stop running,
I suppose I will be on borrowed time and so work
Hard every day, do good things to all and never shirk,
For if we are granted some extra years on the earth,
We should do all we can to make them of great worth.
But if three score years and ten is all that is given to me,
I strive to live the best I can and so prepare to be worthy
To enter into His rest, pray that all my sins are forgiven,
So in joy be prepared to work for ever in His heaven.
