EATING OUT ON CHRISTMAS DAY
A few years ago we decided to eat out on Christmas day,
No big preparation, piles of dishes, toddlers in the way,
A quite peaceful morning, dress up and then off to eat,
For us that sounded like an extra special Christmas treat.
We opened up our presents to Christmas music sweet,
Phoned around friends and family to cheerfully greet,
Then drove to the restaurant for our Christmas fare,
We were surprised when we saw who many were there.
The food was good, but was an all you can eat buffet,
Not the sort of thing we ever did on Christmas day,
For desert there was no Christmas pudding to be seen,
No sign of real trifle with jelly layers and whipped cream.
Yet for once it was good to rest well on Christmas day,
But it was not quite the same, but we enjoyed it anyway,
One year we may have to go out and try it one more time,
But Id find out if they had Christmas food just like mine.
