GAINING KNOWLEDGE
What words of wisdom would I hear
if I listened after prayer?
Not hurry off to daily tasks but waited
awhile kneeling there,
Sometimes we say we have no answers, yet
do we listen after we pray?
Or are we too caught up in the worldly
attractions of each day?
What would I learn if I pondered after
the scriptures Id read?
Absorbed into my soul all the precious
things that are said,
Listened to the meanings that are meant
just alone for me,
The words God freely gives to guide
us to find sweet liberty.
Will we be worthy to create a wonderful
world that us ours?
Have we really seen the birds and beasts and all
the trees and flowers?
Have we stood and seen a rainbows colour,
watch clouds roll by?
Or watched the stars at night and the moon in
a dark blue sky?
Or seen the marvellous things that make
our earth so truly fair.
If we do not mediate and ponder after our
scripture reading and prayer.
Will we be able to know how to follow some
great eternal plan,
If we have not observed and studied on this earth
all the things we can,
That will stop us from making it safely
up to His heaven above.
Maybe because we do not use or appreciate
all the things given in love,
Jesus knew of the flowers, trees, creatures and the
birds on tiny wings,
Knew how to pray and listen, read the scriptures,
knew of all things.
Let us follow His example be always willing
to swiftly obey,
Look and watch and listen and so gain
knowledge every day.
