CHRISTMAS CAN BE ANYWHERE
Things had been bad over the last month or two,
Christmas would be harsh, that the old lady knew,
But she had her old cottage, a table and some chairs,
Some food to eat and an old pet cat her love to share.
Thered be very few decorations for theyd been sold,
To buy clothes and wood to keep her free from cold,
But she would see what she could try and work out,
For she loved Christmas of that there was no doubt.
The bus fare into the town had been free on that day,
Senior discounts and specials seem to come her way,
But there was no spare money to buy garlands or lights
So she wandered around the mall, enjoyed all the sights.
Wending her way back to the bus stop a garland fell,
The store keeper told her to keep it no one would tell,
Could you use these lights? My wife wanted all blue
One is all mixed colours Id love to give them to you.
Tears filled her eyes as she rode home on the free bus,
When she arrived home the cat made an extra fuss,
He seemed to be telling her to open the fridge door,
So she did and in there was fresh good food galore.
A merry Christmas was written with a big smiley face
How she thanked the kind soul who had been to her place
And left enough food for a wonderful Christmas meal,
Someone cared, do you know good that made her feel.
