HOMELESS AT CHRISTMAS
No fancy dinner, no gifts, but there
is a tree,
It’s on the street near my warm place,
for all to see,
There is a sharp bend in a tall
concrete wall,
That keeps out the wind, but the
space is small,
I am better off than most of the
homeless around,
For this space ages ago I was
able to find,
Some comfort on the cold winter
nights a kind
Of a shelter, but nothing like
a real home,
But at least at Christmas I have
a special treat,
I have a little shelter and a
lovely tree does greet
me every day during the great
Christmas season,
So although I am homeless I
have great reason
To rejoice and praise my God
who is above,
For the simple blessings He sends
me with love.
