More poems about Temptation

OPPORTUNITY
Opportunity only comes to our door very infrequently,
We need to hear the call, not ignore the chance to grow,
Open the door and so let that special offer set you free
To improve your education or a much better job show.

But also knocking is temptation so do not get confused,
For Satan is sneaky can make darkness seem like light,
So when you answer the door, especially the one well used,
Stop and make sure it is truth for that shines truly bright.

‘Get thee behind me Satan’, were wise words, the Saviour said,
When it seemed that a fine opportunity was just right there,
But Jesus knew the difference, was always spiritually fed,
In communication with Father through fasting and prayer.

We need to open the door but can shun temptation away
With prayer and fasting and striving to be pure in heart,
We can grow strong, for Satan has no power at all to stay,
Nor can he force us to do evil for we can tell him to depart.
