        SELFISH ACTS OF KINDNESS
If you do an act of kindness, but not for being kind,
I am sure the recipient would never really mind,
They feel the goodness of a kindness to them done,
Maybe by that kind deed helped trial overcome.

A kindness done for kindness sake is fine indeed,
A kindness done for love of all means we take heed
Of the divinity within us to be kind to every man,
Following the principles of a much higher plan.

Kindness because we have to, we may do with a sigh,
Denying the blessing that can flow down from heaven,
But at least the acts of kindness helps many folks along,
And then we enjoy doing them, our heart sings a song.

I cannot see the difference when someone is kind to me,
The motive in the heart is something I do not want to see,
But in the vast world in all acts of kindness there is love,
And I know all acts of kindness will be counted up above.
