        TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS
When trials and tribulations come, we often moan,
Maybe thinking God’s loving mercy is not shown,
Our pathway full of pitfalls, our body full of pain,
Another great mountain top to struggle to gain.

Where is the kindness, where is God’s love I need,
Through torment and anguish does He take heed?
Know my strengths and weaknesses, does he care,
If I stretch out in the trials will He really be there?

Then a soothing voice calmed my troubled heart,
You need both rose and thorns to make you part
Of my kingdom, smooth paths won’t make you grow,
Each trial a strengthener, so me much better to know.

I will make each harsh stumbling block a stepping stone,
So thou can’st help make me to be Thy child, Thy very own,
Each pitfall a kneeling place to show my gratitude and love,
And I’ll be ever thankful for trials as they prepare me for above.
