LACK OF UNDERSTANDING
I cannot understand those who say, ‘there is no God above,
No supreme being who guides us with His eternal love,
Who gives us beauty all around and stars in the sky at night,
He who leads us daily and fills us with His wisdom and light’.
They shun the idea yet cannot explain how things came to be,
Who sorted out the stars and the earth rotating correctly,
It just happened with a big bang and everything fell into place,
Not by some mighty God full of knowledge, goodness and grace.
There is no God for He would not allow wars and suffering
Are some of the reasons for no God to us they often bring,
You explain about the gift of agency given to all mankind,
That He would not stop choices so the consequences we find.
I know there is a God above and He gave His precious Son
To suffer and die upon the cross so the battle over evil is won,
He suffered and died for those who mock and scorn Him now,
As He did the men who crucified Him, placed thorns on His brow.
One day I hope all men will realize there is a great God above,
A Father who cares for them and showers them with His love,
I hope they can feel that love penetrate them deep down within,
That all people everywhere will want to turn away from sin.
