THE LONG WEEKEND
Gazing through the bedroom window after a night of rain,
Seeing the sun struggling with clouds her power to gain,
Giving a little prayer hoping that this time shell win,
For its May long weekend and no one wants to stay in,
Everywhere is bright and clean after natures washing day,
And more and more boats are appearing in each bay,
All we need this weekend is for the weather to cooperate,
So that on Victoria Day well all have fun and celebrate.
Some will open up the cottage ready for summer time,
Others work in their garden, a few will rock climb,
Others go on adventures, fish, play on a sandy beach,
Maybe go for long walks a new destination to reach.
Friends and loved ones want to gather but not in rain,
Picnics are fun but to have them indoors in a pain,
Come on sun and the great battle win this weekend
And the glories of May sunshine upon us all send.
