HOMELESS AND COLD
Whipping winter winds, blinding snow,
Bitter cold, extra clothes when out you go,
Minus forty or even colder in mid January,
Oh, for summer’s sweet warm sanctuary.

See how the snow piles higher each hour,
Lets’s hope that we’ll not be without power,
Those that have to go abroad on a cold night
We hope they are safe and free of any plight.

How will the homeless cope when it’s this cold?
No shelter or heat, no sweet loved one to hold,
Who will care, who has a safe haven cozy and warm.
Somewhere they can be free from cold and harm.

The streets are all empty everyone has gone home,
No one on a cold night like this should ever roam,
Most wild creatures have nests, safe den or a cave,
Thick furry coats or feathers their lives to save.

But man also needs warmth and shelter and care,
Not stuck out in the cold, no comfort to share
With a friend or family, no one to say come home,
As through the cold empty streets they sadly roam.

I wish I was rich enough to find a home for everyone,
Somewhere to go, when a busy day is finished and done,
A meal on the table, a warm drink and a soft bed to rest,
But most of all someone to care, the gift that’s the best.
