ALL THE CHILDREN TAGGING ALONG
You see them in the malls, or going grocery shopping,
All the children seem to keep their parents always hopping,
They have to look all over the place to see where they are at,
I know how they feel, for I’ve been there and done that.

One challenge is a trip when their friends tag along too
Especially if that trip you take is to a big exciting zoo,
Dad may take the lead and mom then will up the rear
Every step taken could be filled with worry and fear.

How many different directions can ten children take!
Has anyone seen Johnny he’s missing for goodness sake,
He can’t be too far, but there is worry on every face
He had just stopped to bend down to tie his shoe lace.

Then there is going to the X even with five or so
The buddy system applies when there are many in tow,
All tagging along wanting to see different things
And the heartache and suffering that can bring.

But having the children tagging along at Christmas time
When there’s lots of shopping to be done is fine
Until you get to the till and wonder why the bill is so high!
Then when you unpack the food and give a big sigh.
You did not put in Pretty crackers to pull and the main meal!
Or a cute race car molded out of some special, magic steel!
A barking bone for the dog, a catnip mouse for that cat
Then that big Ice cream cake that I knew I had put back.

Still it’s Christmas and only once a year, but make a note
To leave them home, even let them watch Love Boat!
But it can be fun having all the children tagging along
Especially when out of the blue they all sing the same song.
