HURT FEELINGS
Sometimes you are insulted when there is no need,
People say things, of your sensitivity have no heed,
Worse than a slap in the face, words are cruelly said,
You wish for a moment that you had stayed in bed.

All have different ways of coping with this kind of stress,
But the hardest to overcome is not loving that person less,
When a branding iron has been pressed on a tender heart,
It is hard to smile and carry on and true love still impart.

Then a thought may strike you, this will help me grow,
Help me find more understanding, help me to know
That there will be trials and humiliation come to me each day,
And this is what may be needed to show me a better way.

Although a heart may be saddened and the hurt remain,
I hope there will be forgiveness in me, so overcome the pain,
Maybe no malice was meant at all, just some funny little joke,
So why should I feel that my poor old heart is nearly broke?

Pride is the answer, a proud, not a humble heart is mine,
So I will go and thank that friend, for now I’m doing fine,
I’m finding the path that leads to humility and pure love,
And so have, I hope, taken a step nearer to heaven above.
