AWAKENING DAY

Awakening day what will you bring for me?
Will there be sunshine as bright as can be?
Or will it rain in torrents on the drenched ground?
This I cannot change, but where true worth is found
Is making the most of whatever happens to us each day,
By a smile seem to send the dark rain clouds away,
Or making the sunshine brighter by doing a good deed,
Finding out and helping a friend who is in need,
Saying a kind word to someone who is feeling down,
Greeting with a happy smile one who wears a frown.
The list could go on of the little things to be done today,
Don’t save them until tomorrow, no matter what folks say,
There may be no tomorrow, or we don’t know what it’ll bring,
So work on being kind and good, make someone’s heart sing,
Bring a bright ray of sunshine just about everywhere you go,
And that way you will true joy and happiness learn to know.
