A TOO TENDER HEART
I always cry at sad movies or when I read a book,
I cannot stand to see folks suffer, when I take a look
At scenes of cruelty I always want to make it right,
And for any poor under dog I’m always willing to fight.

I will feed stray animals and buy seeds for the birds,
Feel anguish when the weak fall in the great herds,
If a child is crying I just want to give them a hug,
It takes me all my time to even swat a fly or bug.

Can we have a too tender heart beating every day,
Is it wrong to feel others pain and hurts this way,
Can one ever love too much as we live our lives?
For it seems to me on these things my life thrives.

Maybe my heart is too tender, soft hearted old me,
I am sure these are feelings we’ll have in eternity,
For we know we cannot take earthly things above,
But we can take a heart that is filled with much love.
