PLEASANT THINGS
Chatting to a friend for a moment or two,
Trying on hats that look quite silly on you,
Leaning over a bridge to watch fish go by,
Listening to the breeze make the trees sigh.

See a ray of sun come through the rain,
A spider web shine on your window pane,
The sound of the morning chorus at dawn,
Getting a glimpse of a little spotted fawn.

The laughter of a family when at play,
Hearing the geese call as they fly away,
A flower struggling through tall grass,
A smile from a stranger who you pass.

There is nothing special about these things,
Yet each one a little bit of happiness brings,
Pleasant things that makes life worth while,
Put into a lonely heart a happy pleasant smile.
