        APPRECIATION OF FREEDOM
Do we appreciate the freedom that we know,
Travel freely, go wherever you want to go,
The freedom to vote, freedom to openly speak,
Freedom any occupation to work at and seek.

No visa to travel, no guard checking you out,
Perhaps we don’t really know what that is about,
But ask some poor soul who lives in this state,
How blessed we are not to live and have this fate.

We can disagree with any government in power
Without fear of being thrown in a lonely tower,
We may make a stand on a main street without fear,
Hold outdoor meetings, have a big crowd draw near.

Many other things we are free in this land to do,
Yet do we all appreciate this our whole life through.
Many wars have been fought for liberty’s sake,
Many lives lost and many hearts did sadly break.

We know we’d fight again if freedom were at stake,
For we need to be free to choose or life’s a mistake.
Cherish the freedom we have in this wonderful land,
Always be willing for freedom to honourably stand.
