        OBEDIENT MOON
How fast the moon is waning, shrinking to a sliver,
        then she is gone,
Into days of darkness then once again she waxes
        quickly going on
To fullness of beauty through her short twenty
-       &  eight day reign,
Many moons come and go during man sojourn
        here on earth,
She always keeps her laws that have been for
        her plainly set forth,
Are we the same as the obedient beautiful moon
        always ready to obey?
Or do we in our frail human folly often wish
        to go stubbornly astray.
I watched the moon in grace sail gently across
        the darkened sky,
Each phase was so perfect, each law so sweetly
        she does always go by.
May I in all humility obey God’s laws so plainly
        set out for me,
So one day be worthy to live with God in adoration
        and sweet felicity.
