A SIMPLE LITTLE SONG
The roads seemed extra busy, as the rain came tumbling down,
The people on the sidewalk carrying umbrellas, wore a frown,
Accidents were all over the place, sirens screaming loud,
Yet there was someone singing in that tumultuous crowd.

The melody was a simple one, a rather happy little song,
Quite catchy too, for soon it spread through the throng,
The frowns were gone although the rain still came,
But that man with the simple song had removed pain.

I noticed now that there was a spring in the footfalls,
Instead of plodding along trying to miss the puddles,
Someone waved at a motorist and gave him a smile,
He returned it, I hoped that it cheered him for a little while.

A smile and a pleasant song can send misery far away,
Even if the rain still comes down you have a better day.
And just like a bright ray of sunshine, it make things warm,
So I’ll remember the affect of that song on the next rainy morn.
