PICTURES IN MUSIC
When you hear certain music, tis like new flowers in spring
Blossoming in their beauty different colours and everything,
Almost feel them grow as the music fills up your heart,
And a wonderful picture is waiting wherein you do take part,
Running with the cool spring air, putting colour on your cheek,
Running with the swift deer, running so fast you cannot speak,
The music pushes you, rushes you with joy in every single step,
Just in time the music slows, good, for you are all out of pep.
Now I see a ploughman leading his tired horse homeward bound,
After a long, weary exhausting day of working on the hard ground,
Each step slow and ponderous as to his home and rest he goes
I step with him through the music, listen how slow that music goes.
Now he is home at last and the children want to laugh and play,
The music is more lively in a haunting, weary kind of way.
A rustic scene of simple music played in plaintiff tones sweet
Brings me into the music picture all these lovely people to meet.
Play on music, please paint more pictures for me as you play,
Heal my tired mind with a dance with the sea waves one day,
Or carry me flying with the birds and find the rainbows end,
And let me flow down a river, find out what is around the bend.
Let me walk with the gypsies, rest around a bright fire at night.
Play music so my hearts soars and to see the northern lights,
Play so my soul sings and tears of joy run down my face,
Then quietly sooth me to sleep with a song of perfect grace.
