THE EFFECTS OF MUSIC

Some music is so soothing it helps you to meditate,
Helps your mind wander to good wholesome things,
A simple tune chased across the many instruments
Of the orchestra, sweet beauty truly represents.

Yet some happy notes that go dancing all around,
Help you wash the dirty floor and new energy is found,
Just by the sound of lovely music that is good for me,
A sound I’ll always want to hear, deaf I do not want to be.

The sound of music can carry almost to heaven’s gate,
Where the notes are perfection and you cannot wait
To find however more beauty could come from sound,
And so want to try so hard to be heaven bound.

A happy song that fills you with delight and hope,
Played on a day when all goes wrong and you can’t cope,
Then comes this music to heal your sad, hurting heart,
And you wonder how music could such love impart.

The music that is sad can move a soft heart to tears,
The music that can take from a weary heart, worries and fears,
Is music that came from the soul of many a brilliant genius,
Given from their creative minds and hearts, just for us.

I want to meet the composers of music that stirs me so
Meet them and ask how such sounds could so freely flow,
To ask them for one moment to take me into their heart
And know and feel the power that this gift can impart.

I know I would cry for joy as the sounds I heard
And would with my inadequate written word
Write something worthy of what I felt that special day
When I wandered into a composers heart, in a magical way.
