NOT REALLY HEAVEN
I had a dream the other night, it helped me Im sure,
For I thought I was dead and heading for heavens door,
The sweet pets I had from years gone by were with me,
Such a loving feeling, the reunion a great sight to see.
We walked along the road to a lovely golden gate,
I knocked for there was no one there, I had to wait,
A man came and I asked for some water to drink,
He said welcome, but no animals, that made me think!
What is this place I asked, Heaven, he boastfully said to me,
I walked away thirsty, its not right, no animals for eternity,
If that was really Heaven was I wrong not wanting to go?
No animals or birds around seemed all wrong somehow.
We walked steadily onward along that pleasant road,
Met others with their animals, one a lovely horse rode,
Then we came to another gate, a man was standing there,
With a noble, radiant face and glowing silver hair.
Welcome one and all, the man said, his arms open wide,
The love and joy upon his face he really could not hide,
Welcome to heaven all of you, come drink your fill,
You chose the right gate by doing our Fathers will.
I awoke and knew that in heaven there is a place
For all worthy creatures, all welcome to His grace,
We should not be deceived by Satan here or above,
We wont not be if we treat all people and creatures with love.
