AND THE TRUTH HAS SET ME FREE
Ever since I was little, I knew Jesus loved me,
Taught from the cradle, that truth set me free,
Free to seek out more knowledge as older I grew,
A way of life to follow as more and more I knew.
Then I heard about the gospel in its fulness on earth,
If that were true, to me it would be of great worth,
I listened, and pondered and prayed with all my might,
And oh, the burning in my heart, I knew it was right.
Precept on precept I was taught of things I never knew,
Line upon line I learned, I knew these things were true,
The treasures of the gospel came one by one to my view,
And this knowledge has helped me to be born anew.
I now know with no doubt in my ever grateful heart,
That Jesus suffered for me, and so my sins depart
If I repent and follow in His footsteps along the way,
And I will return and live with God one glorious day.
I know we have a prophet that speaks for God above,
He teaches us commandments that fill us with love,
I know that man and wife will dwell in heaven, never to part
At death, but be married forever, shows Gods loving heart.
No little child is evil so needs no washing away of sin
If they die young, God in heaven will let them all in,
God the Father and My Saviour, Jesus are separate, not one,
One in purpose and so are we when true knowledge is won.
And this truth has set me free from ignorance of old,
This new knowledge I have gained has made me bold,
For I wish to tell my fellow men and pray I may do well
In explaining the love of God and how with Him to dwell.
