LIGHT WITHIN
Everyone born has a pure light within,
Your own guide to keep you from sin,
We know it’s wrong to be mean and cruel,
You don’t have to be told that golden rule.

In the worst of us it is there somewhere,
Unable to shine bright, but it is there,
If we feed it by being good and kind
It will shine so help others their light find.

How bright is my inner shining light?
Does it fade and grow dim in life’s night?
Or can people tell by the things I do and say
That my light is clear as I go the right way?

What can we do to help our light shine bright?
‘Tis not easy as evil seems to shut out the light,
Shun darkness away by doing a goodly deed,
Help someone lost, the hungry try and feed.

Stop and think before we say a bad word,
Keep thoughts pure so that if they were heard
We would not be ashamed, choose the right,
Find out how you can fight the good fight.

Emulate the sweet, pure love that flows free
From heaven above, God’s love fit for eternity,
Let no one quench that holy light that glows,
Work at keeping it shining so much that it shows.
