Gratitude

ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL
How glorious and great is this world of ours,
From mighty trees to fragrant flowers,
From mountains high to pleasant plains,
From the heat of the sun to the cooling rains.

God in His goodness gave us these gifts for free,
A world of sweet beauty and sweet serenity,
Grasses and shrubs that along the hedge do grow,
That little of their loveliness they rarely show.

What of the creatures both great and small
God in His kind wisdom made them all?
Imagine a world without flower or tree
And no animals around roaming free.

This world would be a sad lonely place
There would be few smiles seen of any face,
God made this all this for our joy and pleasure,
Ours to care for protect and to treasure.

How well do we our responsibility keep,
Does Father above bow his head and in sorrow weep?
How many flowers no longer bloom or trees grow
Or animals their faces can no longer show.

I thank God for the beauty around us every day,
Creatures great and small that come our way,
May The Lord in His great mercy understand
The destruction caused by man’s thoughtless hand.
